About Us

I married the love of my life on July 7, 2012.

I met Jake the first day of RA training my junior year in college.  I instantly liked him because he laughed at all of my jokes and stories (and I really liked his laugh). Later that week we had to sign-up for all of the times that we would sit duty for the year.  Well I thought that spending time together at the desk would be a perfect way to make him fall in love with me.  Unfortunately, his best friend, Matt, kept taking all of the slots with Jake.  The best I could do was a weeks worth of holiday shifts.  The upside we would be practically the only people in the building...the downside I had to wait until December!

I tried to see him whenever I could and kept dropping what I thought were subtle hints, but to anyone else they are completely undetectable. I even played ultimate frisbee for Heaven's sake and I am the most uncoordinated, athletically challenged girl ever! Around September, I went on the first date I think I had been on in college...not with Jake :(

Afterwards I went to talk it out with my friends. The guy was nice enough I told them, but I really wanted a guy like Jake...a guy I could marry. Why didn't he like me I cried? The more and more I thought about it and prayed about it I knew I didn't want a guy like Jake... I wanted Jake!

Finally, December rolled around and brought our holiday shifts together. We hit it off just like I knew we would! He was so sweet and even walked the 2am rounds with me when it was my turn because they totally freaked me out. That week really sparked our relationship and then I asked him to go with me to a few sorority dances.

Oh my goodness did we take it slow! We weren't officially dating until February. Almost exactly a year later we got engaged! I know that doesn't seem like long compared to some people's stories, but I had known that I was meant to marry Jake since we before started dating.

Now we have been married for a year and I still love him like crazy! We are striving to keep God as our foundation and do as He leads. We have bad days, and grumpy days, and fighting days, but we always try to end them with goodnight kiss! Our life together is real...it's full of ups and downs. The ups outnumber the downs and we try to thank God through all of it!
